On 4/23/07, my first daughter and first grand-daughter's birthday, one of my co-workers made his final exit- on the job, right there in front of everyone in the department. My friends, death is no respector of persons, places or things. The importance of that lesson to me is- live now; live life to the fullest. Always let your loved ones know that you love them and share a hug before leaving to go anywhere because you never know. I was inspired by the sequence of events that day hence this poem. I made a card which I presented to his widow after I read it at the funeral home. I was asked to read it.

I witnessed a co-worker die right before my eyes And even though his death was sudden it was really no surprise I saw him slowly pull away as he prepared for death My one wish for him is that, in his life, he really had no regret I truly hope he came to terms with his mortality, and, thoroughly, prepared himself to transition spiritually There were no bags to pack or treats to take as he embarked on his journey There were no boats, or cars, or aeroplanes to take him to eternity But he had lots of love and caring folks who surrounded him that day On April 23rd, 2007- Kenneth Pryce departed and was on his way Up, up, and away his soul traveled way beyond the skies right into the arms of our Father where Kenneth Pryce now lies + May he rest in peace Amen Copyright Pamilla deLeon- Lewis, 2006

Pam, what a wonderful tribute. I agree about death not having no respecter of persons. Death is like a fast car in the slow lane without a horn. Thanks for sharing this with us.
