A Halloween poem written in a Florida setting

Deep in the Everglades lives Hilda,
the witch. She casts wicked spells,
sniffs wolfnip.

It makes her crazy, so they say.
She howls at the moon to keep people
away.

A bubbling cauldrin sits on the
fire. Its thick gray smoke rises
higher and higher.

The smoke sends out a signal for
all to beware. Ghosts, ghouls and
goblins soon will be there.

Zombies and werewolves are invited
too. They'll dance around the fire,
drink " Swamp Water Brew".

Each year they gather to devise
new scares, for frightening people
is a hobby of theirs.

They'll boo and howl, yell and
scream, making frightful sounds
while practicing scarey scenes.

When Halloween night arrives,
and the moon shines on high,
Hilda hops on her broom stick,
and goes for a ride.

She flys across the ebony sky
leading fiends to towns and
cities near by.

A spooktacular show then begins,
as the monsters of BooVille do
frightful, scarey things.

At dawns first light , all say
goodnight. They fly back to
BooVille filled with delight.

Hallows Eve is over, gone till
next year, when once again
all will return to spread
gruesome everglades fear.
