I was exprssing a mood I was in and just had to let the cat out the bag
LONELY WOMAN
She was just a flower A sad flower in the sand
"Why the sand", you say? Like the ostrich, each day She'd denied the wretch she was She was :"A pre madona in the land"
"Put your best foot forward", she'd say "Pretend and you will get your way" "Pretending will make it so"
So she went on her way, lieing to herself all the while That she was what she was not
Always looking for something better Something that would satisfy After a life seeking pleasure, fine clothes, fine jewels and cars She found her life empty, and so
Now wanted other people's children To make her life happy again

Pretending is a hard job...but someone has to do it. Powerful writing!

Happiness and love are gifts that we give to ourselves and acceptance of self is essential if we are going to ever feel secure in who we are. There are many who believe if they change their surroundings that their life will be different, but real change can only come from within. Placing embellishments upon a hollow spirit in no way fills the spirit and financial wealth, alone, in no way makes us worthy of another’s respect. Your words and observations are wise, Marguerite.

There are many like this. Woman aging ungracefully, trying all means to look beautiful, covering their body with silicone and other operations. Yet they never realize that respect comes not from looks but from proper behaviour. Victor
