This is my humble contribution to the National Poetry Month, with a special greeting to all my girls around Olympus that never stopped to inspire me.

I will tell you that the MUSES best friend
was PEACE of the MAIDENS OF PHTHIA,
and fair CHARITES, all of them haunting
on MOUNT HELICON, sacred altar VESTARS.

ZEUS consorted with MNEMOSYNE on the
hills of ELEUTHER for nine lusting nights,
they got together nine very different daughters,
which all became my lovers, one by one.

First it was CALLIOPE that to an illiterate me
introduced to the fines of WRITING ART,
her naked left breast touching my shoulder
as she guided over yellow scrolls, my hand.

The sundial had marked a passing age
when I thought, "very well, now I can write!"
when CLIO, the second daughter, came and said,
Georg it has come that this is your HISTORY time!

I felt depondent, I thought I knew all but,
TRAGEDY came with MELPOMENE's gait,
to teach me about all the unwritten tears
of many lovers that waited too long, and died.

Thanks heavens for the fairest EUTERPE,
coming with MUSIC to solace my hours
away from the boredom of too much learning,
with the narcotic effects of a murmuring harp.

My private idyll was interrupted by ERATO's
LYRIC and EROTIC POETRY, and not only that,
she commanded me to become her sole poet, a kind
of secret lover for her to play with, on her nights.

From the arms of the POETIC MUSE's libido,
TERPSICHORE took me away with a DANCE,
an enchantress commanding thousand drops of rain
to make arabesques before leaving the skies.

Exausted, at my rescue here comes sweet URANIA,
holding rolls, books, drawings and a Universe Map,
she wanted to teach me the old ASTRONOMY and,
no less, ASTROLOGY her most precious child.

As I was getting too serious at the door was THALIA,
coming with the only purpose to make me laugh,
COMEDY is the more strong virtue in all of her, living
life like it was a full theater with bravos and applause.

Innocent POLYMNIA, seeing me with her sisters,
wanted of so many apparent marriages be a part,
and don't wanting to be heard by the others used MIME,
with RHETORIC, used in our honeymoon, was the plan.

My MUSES sang in PELEUS and CADMUS weddings,
and I heard them at the Greek ACHILLES funeral,
but we never reached the point of making love,
they were only inspiring me...and thanks for that.

Apparently A POET'S HAREM is also his education. How could one's pen not be blessed after such a brilliant romp with the muses? From a fountain of classic inspiration you have presented us with a classic gift of a poem. Much gratitude,
Aberjhani

The input of the muse can be a staggering strength that seems to pour poetry from our pen without our mind doing any of the work. Sometimes "automatic writing" comes from places we know not and we sit in amaze as we read back what we have placed upon the page. This was a fun read, Georg, taking us for a literary walk through the tales of the Greeks and the interesting paths of their times.
Take care,
Sherry

A historical and most profound introduction to the history of Poetry ever released by any Master of any ERA... "A POET'S HAREM" flows and takes one (This one ~ me ~ especifically) on wings of imagination ~ soaring on clouds of wonders, knowledge and art. It has made me trust on persevering on "My cult to beauty", and assured me that this first part of the twenty-first century will end as the greatest of POETRY's REVELATION.

Yes, Sir! Your contribution to this National Poetry Month is etched on a platinum scroll decorated with flawless brilliant cut diamond letters of beauty; a page of Major Art to enrich THE AMERICAN FINE LETTERS; and a multicolor artistic FLAG blown by winds of inspiration, love and wonders.

May Your days be healthy, and may the world pay the accolades due to You, Poet.

My gratitude and admiration,
