THE HYMN OF THE BATTERED REPUBLIC
They have many tables to play in a
weird formed house called Pentagon,
one is dedicated to Gettysburg battle,
other to fighting Napoleon in Waterloo.
There is a full table named Normandy,
besides the one with the name Inchon,
all great perfect planned war battles
no a table with the name of Iraq I saw.
I heard once about the “cannon fodder”
acceptable casualties we were told,
to conquer a little hill not in your maps,
“to confuse the enemy” said the top dogs.
Many tables in the weird building you see,
and if you don’t do something, many more,
because all those Tin Soldiers standing there,
each one represents one American fighting son.
Singing The Hymn of the Battered Republic,
you aren’t sending Tin Soldiers to be shot,
because one day the People will be so angry
that they will convert Pentagon on a parking lot.
The reason we are, where we are now "Over There"
is because the knucklehead politician, in the "HIll"
Like to play Monday morning Commanding geregals
Don't they have a hard job as is, lining their pockets,
getting their hands greased, looking the other way?
Trying to keep the spoils of war??????
Treating and blaming the Commanding Generals like criminals
At Senate hearings, they screw up than they go out on a witch hunt.
I don't know who I hate the most, Lawyers, Carsalesmen or Politicians
They are all molded from the same product "DUNG"
Don't get me startedddddddddd!
I think many see this war as a shot in the darkness of terrorism. But, you have to know what you're shooting and what you hope to achieve. Somehow [in my feeble brain] I think that this war was a retaliation and not well thought out. In. Out. The original plan - backfired. Maybe I'm not sufficiently fore-sighted, but I don't see this as helping our soldiers, their families, or our freedom.

At least with waterloo, and Normandy we had well thought out battle plans. Here we are just glad we booted Blair out, now getting our troops out.
No long term thought went in to this semi war, no thoughts of consequences or undrstanding of a culture that is to scared to think for itself, for if they do...BANG! The govts were naive trying to help a culture who only see life in their autocratic way....
Bush didn't know were Iraq was on the map, or England come to that.
Brav write as the Reps will dispise this from what I've learned about America. Wot the heck, we love Bill C over here and want his MRS in.
Why is it, we saw Blair had naffed up so we booted him out, why can't america do that in a democracy, or is it not a real democracy?
'cannon fodder'. Ugh. All wars, however inevitable, are despicable horrors of intolerance, non-communication, greed, power struggles, etc. Terrestrial woes.

NOT tin soldiers but flesh and blood.
People must have the courage to say "NO!" to the War Profiteers!

I've heard too many times about the cannon fodder, and I truly believe that as long as this mentality exists by those in power, wars will continue to rage on, and our valiant soldiers will continue to pay the price for these 'war games.'

Well said Georg, sometimes we must stand up and fight but it had better be for a legitimate reason if we are going to ask our sons and daughters to lay down their lifes.
So many battles fought for nothing in the end, such was the plight of our soldiers in North Korea and the 38th parallel and there our soldiers sit to this day.
