When Walt a little by off hand casually said to look into his eyes I knew then and there that after William D'Artagnan and Holly he wanted too to pull a fast one on me.
But brother, old dogs should no try to teach each other new...or old tricks.
Dedicated to Walt Hardester
In Nam those were the eyes they want to see,
when with a broken body on the ground you lie
looking into his funny eyes saying all’s well,
a bucked of blood and yet he saved your life,
as Charlie wished to singe his bushy whiskers
with a mortar fun-noise-maker and plenty fire.
Look at that face telling you so many things,
a gipsy face that wandered on scorching sands,
solitary sailor quarreling with the sea for nothing,
because one wave gave to his stern a friendly slap;
a philosopher that talked to the screaming sea gulls
telling them of Nietzsche and to please…shut-up!
That face is like a complicated game of mirrors,
you will see what you don’t look, all a mirage,
two dark and friendly points to take your bearings,
soft eyes wrapped with the fold of many smiles,
never showing discouraging signs to the wounded,
on the battlefield or in the back of the ambulance.
Trying to show prankish eyes, mischievous ones,
of a practical joker everybody will think perhaps,
that without that face around, are two black points,
the entrance to tunnels you can’t go and see inside,
because they guard the secret of many atrocities
perpetrated by man, tunnels end without no lights.
If you need a no nonsense friend to chat the wind,
quarrel with the sea or break a beer cool by ice,
maybe you should and consider touching base
with an experienced man that not only is a father,
he puts that wicked look of a lover in his eyes
until she reminds him “no el Zorro, just grandfather”
If those are the last eyes you see before departing life,
it’s OK, because God is giving you a wink and the last smile.
Walt Hardester: a beautiful human being, both inside and out. Very nice tribute, Georg; I love these! (Thanks for doing my eyes; I have saved the poem, so I can look at it again and again; I have also saved the one you did on my twin, the StormSpinner. I smile when I look at that one, too.) You're a doll, and I love you for it. (I love Walt, too.)
(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D
Walt will love this, Georg, as do I: there'd be no one I'd rather see hovering me if injured on the battle front. A sense of humor is a very powerful thing, doeth good like a medicine. :) Beautiful.
Is very truth you can tell a lot about people

You have our Walt pegged right on the money. You are psychic!! I don't know about Holly, but you also saw the real me hiding and I am sure you were right about Holly.
A wonderful tribute to our Walt, a beautiful soul and a wonderful man.
Love,

Walt's eyes convey "all is right with the world," but with a bit of sadness. Your poem tells me that he's seen an awful lot of horror [which I didn't know], but add the eyes to the smile, and you'd never know. An awesome tribute to one of AD's finest, and to a war hero.
Definitely mischief in those eyes, and lots of other things, too. And a guy who calls himself Salty Walt, writes romance poems about cheese, and has a soft spot for cats, has to be pretty darned good!

Imagine...Walt wanting to play a fast one on you! You, of all people...oh well, I'm a sucker for deep dark brown eyes like Walt's they say so much and you've done a marvelous job describing what you see in this fine man. Blessings, my friend, love Holly
...a little imp, I'd say! This is great Georg...you see in Walt, when many of us see in Walt!... and yes, I wouldn't mind, God giving me a wink and a last smile, such as his!;)
Job well done! I'll bet Walt had no idea you'd be so dead on!
Love and Peace~

And Kimmy is right! I had no idea you would be so dead on.
I told you, you were psychic, or did I say psychotic?
Thanks again,
Walt
