I hope that when you walk alone on empty streets one moonless poor lighted night you remember my words, when the wind howls like insane witches, remember my words...remember...remember...

Poem Artwork

Night without a moon, unfriendly cold,
turn around and look, nobody outside,
home seems so far away…hurry up!!!
slow hard steps coming from the dark
send a chill from the nape of your neck
all the way down a quivering spine,
Reaper couldn’t coming on Halloween
but, there is the shadow of the scythe man!

No, you tell yourself, don’t be that silly,
that’s just too late from a party a someone
but hurry along to your waiting home
no one is there…not cause to be so afraid,
but just for recheck if you are a little wrong
stop and heard, nothing, you see? then again
the menacing sound on the cobblestones
approaching you, but nearer, from the dark.

You say to hell if anybody seeing me running
tell everybody that I was such a sissy coward,
run, run like you ever run before…escape!!!
because if anything you have only one life,
if it is a mugger waiting to whack your head
ruin his day by making his miserable night;
running you didn’t felt the scythe in your throat,
it was the Reaper on Halloween, goodbyeeee!!!!

Ok - I AM a coward and won't be caught out on the streets alone -- especially after reading this. Halloween's Reaper must have had something to do with the Headless Horseman.

Georg,

*shivers* Thanks. Nothing like the cold hand of fear gripping my neck...between walking into spider webs and your words, this will be interesting on my walk home tonight. I have no car. So thanks.

Effectively penned, this one lingers...well done!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Ooh, gave me the creeps...I bet I'll not be walking alone outside, streets, yard, driveway, or maybe not even out on the deck without looking over my shoulder! Great write!
Blessings,

That's why I always take a dog or two with me on those eerie moonlit night walks. They can sense that ole Reaper Man a mile away.
