A Friend in Need

Thanksgiving is coming, family and friends, neighboors and children, bellies filled and smiling faces, blessings descending upon...
But, aren't we forgetting something?
What about that friend in need?

Poem Artwork

A weak knock on the door of your heart
someone is waiting on the other side,
desperation had guided vacillating feet
to come near, but the soul was so afraid
of rejection when that door opened all
or if it will just open a tiny little crack,
like we open when there is a strange,
fear of losing some of the warmth inside.

A weak touch by solitude cold fingers,
on your friendly soul its strongest arm
searching for a well-disposed reaction
that all the fears with kindness will calm;
and you will look down and see the eyes
pleading for your reason to understand,
a friend which is drowning in all the tears
which were brought by blackest hours.

A weak call, almost inaudible, our name
by someone we call a friend, in despair,
found that knocking in many closed doors
make one everywhere an unwanted guest;
we all were there, just to remember it,
the solitude, the emptiness, we don’t want,
because it make us to feel so undesirable,
that those feelings we don’t want back.

A weak and afraid of rejection call,
will you answer it with open an heart?

the weak and rejected always need our response ... yet it's difficult to open our doors to all that require our doing so ... still, it should be one of our main priorities ...important message and well written, Georg ...

Its that time of year to tell someone you care
to reach out with a helping hand, do with your heart, the needy not not be asked if they need, you know who they are, a smile, a hand shake, a greeting, even an invit, to share your blessings at your table......
Peace be with you Brother
Happy Thanksgiving

The hand reached out in friendship and caring is far more powerful than the one that wields a gun or other weapon of warfare or hate...too bad we could not all learn this.

This poem has captured the need for our country to begin once again to remember those friends, or family members that miss out on the holiday celebrations. Even our soldiers are part of our nations heart and soul. Remember they too are watching our backs!Enjoyed!

There are many people who are alone on Thanksgiving; let's not forget about them, give them a blessing or two. Good advice here, Georg; well penned!
