Perhaps, soon, we will no remember what a tree looked we all be needing to go to a picture book or old photos of grandpa, because its wood will be needed to make paper used to print money
You will be concerned too…if you were a bird.
The fields are crying the dead of the last one,
that solitary, deformed and unwanted tree,
where once was a luxuriant and vast forest
now are the domains of eroding winds.
The snow of the winter is going to arrive soon,
it will be no protection for the bear or the deer
because lumberjacks bosses needed more money
and there are too many axes for so very few trees.
Hurry, hurry, soon we will have our forefathers
thought flat-earth, going to the horizon and its abyss,
only she still are round but getting totally bald
because bosses cronies are saying gimme gimme.
Doesn’t matter how far we are or if no one is there
when that deformed last oak falls hear it will we,
the loud cry of Mother Earth asking all of us why
we let a few destroy her beauty for a so measly fee.

I too have a "tree" connection??? It seems I'm drawn to draw them and for some reason or another, I doubt I will ever stop...
They need to be remembered and they need to be respected, just like everything else...living

as i watched nature herself take out thousands of acres of forest this past summer with wild fires i recognized the need for balance - a time to grow and a time clear...
i hope humans will also learn to balance consumption so everything including the birds is provided for...i'll do my small part and be sure the birds have a home in my life...
yes,, I have watched trees being taken down hundreds at a time,, the equipment they have now,, like magic,, puff gone,,, but sadly they don't make them reappear,,Not a very good act at all.

We spent Thanksgiving in the mountains yesterday; turkey sandwiches on a peak in the Cuyamaca's. Sadly over half of the trees now are dead; burned or diseased. And it continues getting worse each year. Seems the planet is dying right before our eyes. A poignant write.

Georg, I have read a book called, "The Healing Energy of Trees" by Patricia Bouchardon, I want to quote something for you from this book:
"Trees are a vital part of the inheritance of mankind......Since ancient times the tree has been a symbol of power, of wisdom, of fertility, and of life itself".
I cannot believe we have been so negligent as to squander our inheritance...
Thank you as usual, for stirring up thoughts of nature and earth's wasteful abuse by mankind.

Yes, when I see the massive clear cutting that is being done it tears at my heart for who will reforest. Between the fires and that will we have a tree at all for our future generation. good write Georg

In only the past 200 years, we have leveled over HALF of Earth's old growth forests, and we seem hell bent on leveling the other half in far less time.
Not only should birds be concerned, but all living creatures, including we foolishly arrogant human beings who are leaving an ugly, artificial world to our grandchildren.
Yet one more gift of Creation we so called smartest beings on Earth, destroy, and so damned sad.
