Soldiers don't die, they fade away.
We, the old ones warning, are fading more quickly than the sound of our voice telling the world that the price is too hight.
Let the greedy ones get their thirty pieces of silver and save your cheers...

Poem Artwork

Wounded in a fetal position I waked up
suddenly it was all silence around
the front was quiet as I left the foxhole
there was nothing, there was no war,
no birds and no flowers
just a so barren landscape
holding broken things
smashed by the hands of man;
and over the burned earth,
without a living woman or a child,
I stood there asking myself
if I was standing like the only one
on that barbaric end of the world
the last to survive,
after been pushed by money lenders
for the golden calf,
to offer all that was dear to me,
to take arms and fight
so they could take it all
what wasn’t theirs…or mine.

Apparently we fought the last battle
happy should be the generals
because everyone won
no one come in last,
all enemies are gone because,
the war left standing no one,
not even a solitary banker, they,
died inside the vaults with a smile,
but no school was laughing
or was that destroyed hospital;
they taught evildoers, even at the cost
of destroying our so dear land,
that they would go to any extreme
to get the mighty buck in their hands,
which now they hold in their
cold dead fingers so very tight,
while I am here alone on barren earth
asking myself for what I survived?
when the only thing left standing
is a Golden Calf.

Dear Georg, your description after a battle is so vivid, it brings back WWII memories and other senseless battles. I see what you see, the endless repetion of the same question: "For whom are we really fighting. You are a great poet. Emile

Intense write my dear friend that shakes the truth like a rag doll in a dogs mouth, greed cannot be the reason for so many young men dying on foreign soil, too many soldiers have died when they could have been here with us this Christmas....

To be the Lone survivor - frightening.
Yet, you portray a picture that may one day be reality.

God bless you. Kathy

Concur with Ed: always, ALWAYS the soldiers, the Veterans, and the innocents, who suffer life-long repercussions...a sad one, Georg.

when the only thing left standing
is a Golden Calf.

These days, I often sadly think that mankind will not be satisfied until that very thing happens. And it will be the valiant soldiers, and the innocents, who will suffer the most.

Karma Bank to Following By Listening by Chiemi

These song lyrics and art are tales, tides and twinkling lights - tunes telling stories of warmth and sun, city and sand, paths that lead, and the coins we can keep in the Karma Bank. Spirit's been bypassed for sorrow, dreaming of a better tomorrow .
