Beggars in the streets of the land of plenty
a nightmare for any aspiring new politico
preferring not to see, not to hear or saying,
the poor shouldn’t be seen, go incognito.
Global warming aren’t a big consolation
to the uncovered ones getting that cruel trio,
the cold fingers of the wind, the icing snow
and the humans hurrying by, inside a limbo.
I don’t should be the one, the number eleven,
I don’t care, I don’t know, not my dominion,
I whish I could, I don’t have the time, I don’t,
want company? get a dog, there’s one amigo.
Closed doors and closed hearts, only open
are the empty streets, world’s biggest casino,
where you bet you life for a little of warmth
in a game that have one chance in one period.
Decorated ex-soldiers, amputees, turn beggars
in the land of plenty which they wanted incognito,
homelessness and wheel chairs are not wished
to be seen by the people living inside their limbo.
A terribly sad senario Georg. We send them off to defend us and our freedom and years later we drive past them as they beg for money and food because our fearless leaders choose to up their own retirement and health care instead of repaying the debt owed these heroes, and we stupidly re-elect these butt wipes. God forgive us.

Sadly this write is so true not just in the United States but here in my own country (Canada) and I am sure many more of the so called civilized countries of the world. I gringe sometimes when I think of how much money is spent on world wide warfare and what good it could do in this poverty ravaged world. Keep spreading the word Georg.

This is a powerful poem that hits straight to the heart of the disease in our country called callousness. Technology doesn't meet the needs of the poor of body , mind or spirit; nor can it ever replace love. Too many times I hear people passing judgment on those who have fallen on hard times. " Let brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; [and] them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body (Hebrews 13:1-3).
The saddest thing of all...there isn't one candidate running for office who would do anything about it. It isn't even on their radar screen!Excellent poem Georg!
Georg, It is not only the veterans that are not taken care of, many low income families are in desperate need also. The escalating cost of living shrinks what little they actually have to survive..We are a country living out of control, sending so much money overseas to a war that we cannot condone nor understand. What are we to do?

Georg, Georg, Georg...you pen one close to my heart. George Carroll (below) said it best: the government that turns its back on its veterans will one day not be a government. Tragic: why are we having to subsist on wages that won't feed a mouse? Why do we have to argue to get decent medical care? No wonder people get fed up....pain, well penned.
We seem to be on the same sad page today, brother. I just posted a blog on our brand new generation of homeless veterans. And I very sadly wonder, if we as a nation, will ever truly learn.
It is a shame that those who live and fight for us and now live their lives in pain and sorrow are doing without so much. Shame on the Government. Thank you for sharing realization Georg.
