Look at the picture, this is Ares, the Greek God of War which any man worth his salt will be pounding is chest, macho way, going to war not against the powerfull and tyrannical ones (man isn't stupid you know?) but against those he consider weaker than himself.
When you are a pounding in the chest warrior politician...you send others to die for you.
Gods making a mistake descending
from Olympus to the world of man,
mortality paving all the roads, and
where treachery as become an Art;
oh yes! they made a great mistake,
because they searched for a moral
that Zeus in Olympus imposed, but
that wasn’t here, just brushed aside.
As Hermes came back from battlefields
telling of many sons falling on Iraq
as they did for no reason fighting in Korea
and many more in the jungles of Vietnam.
Maybe the almighty Zeus is not impressed,
but I am sure that Ares God of War is proud,
to see that we still send more cannon fodder
forgetting all about the broken Veterans.
No majestic bald eagles flying over, for
a few liberated slaves, gushing-oil, all that,
but just a bunch of vultures picking bones
off the flesh that once was an honest man.
The Battle Hymn of the Republic was replaced,
by greedy men, with Mammon’s mantra chant,
give them their asking thirty pieces of silver,
and they can buy for so little…all of our land.
You bring out so many good points in this piece of "blind wisdom". At one time leaders went into battle with the men, now they stay far behind and hunker down. What a sad world we are living in today, a world that has escalated the "God of Greed". Fantastic piece Georg....
Yes I believe Ed got it right , the leaders should be true leaders instead of hiding out. Thank you for sharing Georg.

This one sad ... those in charge don't have sons and daughters on the front lines, so they send ours to replace theirs. :( Powerfully penned call for change - well done, Georg.
Oh wow! this is truly beautiful and wonderful allitaration to the truth, historically in thought much correct, a great spin on the leftovers of spoils of war, and those that suffer the most of their affliction from it, and yes it's those pounding their chests of Aries pride, their selfish and ego driven believes, that keep all the spoils, but we have a democracy, it has to change, that's what we fought the last kings and tyrants for wasn't it! The first seed for it was planted when a mutual recognition with the Vatican was signed... The two HEADS of State called it, THE OPENING OF DIPLOMATIC RELATION, despite the fact that Church and State have no business together or in association.
What is the right of soldier? ~ DID ANY ONE EVER ASK? Can a soldier demand CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS, HUMAN RIGHTS? Can a soldier question the GAMEMASTER?
ARES is personified by the GAMEMASTER and his toys, CONGRESS and Presidential Office obey his MANDAMUS, until people decide to remove them. IT IS UP TO YOU... WAKE UP PEOPLE!

How so sadly true. I've always thought that our leaders should be soldiers themselves, as were our Founding Fathers, and when a battle needs to be fought, they should have the courage to lead us into it, not hide behind their pompous speeches.
