The glass has been getting empty drop by drop and you know that nothing more is there if waiting for a sundown on the beach the drowning of the sun wasn't the wait's worth...
You look down to your shadow and ask, "who I am?" not expecting an answer but you hear a whisper answering, "just less than nobody"...
The door opened and there he was,
angry eyes from a man who was old
waiting for “that” someone coming
peeling knuckles calling on the door,
he seemed familiar, looking at myself
I realized with dismay that there I was.
Not like the image from the mirror,
or of the man created, image of God,
because there wasn’t any mercy given
nor was expected a crumb of pardon,
a empty shell everybody trying to fill
with bad memories, but not with love.
What will you do if you were confronted
with yourself looking back from the door
that you were calling expecting someone
but not that, from sadness, angry world
enshrined inside the eyes of a stranger
knowing it’s you since you were born.
Turn around and retrace those past steps
and return to were happiness was hold,
where you face get to wear so many smiles
and eyes weren’t furiously tempestuous,
to where could had been someone waiting
and your years were so full of that hope.
But, when the door open what will you do
if the one answering the call...was you?
A step back is always good1
I enjoyed this profound write Georg!
I am very concerned for you, this intenseness you left behind, makes
one think harder in the mind...Whatever inspired this write, it was suppose to HAPPEN, for such a glorious write it would not be!

I have, in my mind, a view of my image.
But then I look in the mirror, and wham, there stands
a person much older and more grizzled than the handsome young man I expected. Ain't life a bee otch...But it darn well beats the alternative.
A proufound write Brother

I've taken a look at myself at times
not within a mirror, but stepping out from within myself
looking back, on who I thought I was
Just happened a few days ago.
Peace Be with you Bother.......
A very intense and powerful write! I wonder if anyone is truly happy with what they have become, or how their life has turned out. I will die having unanswered questions and self doubt! HUGS! SC
Turn around and retrace those past steps and find happiness - I wonder how many times each of us in some stage of our lives have wanted to do that. But I think we must look for happiness in the here and now, and let the past, be.
The old saying 'you are only fooling yourself',,, Makes me reflect on so many things,, sometimes we need to face our innerselves as, How can we be fooling ourselves??,,, I guess we are not. Excellent write Georg....

Very well said my dear friend, Yes the depth to which you wrote this has me wondering a few things. Take good care of yourself, dear one, you have way too much to offer this world.
Much peace, love, and light,

I once asked my children, and who are you fooling when at the end of the day, you still have to face and live with yourself. I would be fine if it were I would be facing but I tell you there are many that would wish they could be someone else for that moment in time. Thank you Georg for a great write and yes you are a gifted writer.
There he stands on the treshold of who he is, staring himself in the face, no makeup, no trumpets, naked as sin, raked over the coals by himself, darn it and you thought you could be better, why? none of us is better, except you had the courage to face it, and write in furious and tempestuous language that fit the poem to a tee, what else are you looking for, you did good! Blessings my friend!

It is important to always confront ourself & embrace & even forgive
Your words are the age of wisdoms speaking the prices to pay, the burdens to carry...all those heavy loads, all the selfish choices over being selfless instead...it's frightening I tell you, just frightening...but we enter this world alone (the actual birth), and we will, no matter how many surrounds us...we will meet death alone too..I just have chills at the fright of it all
Much Love & Blessings Georg

This composition paints with some impressionism, surrealism and symbolism, which gave me a vision of Oscar Wilde's
The Picture of Dorian Gray ~ on the first reading, and then a clear combo picture that showed me the "YOU" in the closing line of "Will You be Anonymous?" ~ as the picture in "The Picture of Dorian Gray".
Outstanding composition... "Will You be Anonymous?" glows.
Thought provoking indeed my friend, makes one want to take a long look at their self...are we kidding ourself, do we really know who we are, or do we allow the world to see the real us? Yes, very thought provoking and well written, enjoyed!
Blessings,
