There will be a bleeding open wound as long as no one say sorry.
If I invade your house and destroy your family, forgiveness is not the first thing that will come to your heart, until someone tells you great great grandchildren that they are sorry for what their ancestors did.
Maybe they are afraid that with sorry are followed by a price tag in gold?
Then, they don't know that you can't buy with gold the heart of any member of the Hundred Nations.

Hear the drums rolling down
on the mountain sides
hearts beating with sorrows
peace of thousands moons
are now for ever denied,
Medicine Man saw all of it
with his dream eyes
a nightmarish landscapes
with the buffalo gone
after that old father time.

Great spirit said, “beware,
your life will so decline
because of ungrateful men
coming with blackened hearts
to destroy all around you
carrying sticks of fire,
it will burn everywhere
to the eyes can’t see, that far,
can stay and be slaughtered
or confront them and fight.”

The prairie wouldn’t will be
because of a black soul man
the home of brothers wolves,
a sea made of buffalos backs
the nest of all little sparrows
or the eagle where she flies,
it will be void reservations to
keep jailed in their own house
the free braves like slaves
prisoners in their own land.

Medicine Man dream future
with children without smile,
of Sioux that run like winds
under dead eagles in the sky,
freedom is all you need to take
away, to kill the brave in a man.
Hear the drums rolling down,
they are the Sioux battle cry!

I know I feel ashamed of my ancestors ignorance & their vile hate
& I am Deeply Very Sorry ...but alas I admit I am impoverished over gold tokens but I am blessed with Emotional Wealth! :)

There is just no way to wipe up all the blood Georg, our people scattered, proud nations gone. Still the old ways and old wisdom lives on in our spirits. A poem to touch all hearts.

The history of this nation is awash in blood. The pain lives in the DNA and is passed from generation to generation. But I truly believe that one day the spirits of our ancestors will form a circle that will heal this earth...

Superb factual poem,of the Native American story. I pray someday we will move on to a new time of justice for all, so that we can put the past behind us, not to forget, but to leave it rest.

Will their sacrifices be remembered today also on Memorial Day, are there any war graves for them, with flags and salutes, did Lincoln not include them in his admonishment to remember, they fought for Amerika too, didn't they? Your poem my friend is beautiful and strikes a deep cord, you phrased well all the injustices committed against the most brave ill equiped natives fighting with sticks and arrows, bless you for writing this! well written Native American poem ... much injustice has been incurred on the native American ... yet it's time to look toward the future ... it's important to remember the past, but not continuously rekindle its events ... the battle cry is part of our heritage but its time to evolve beyond its howl ... the same can be said toward the injustice of the American African ... let us instead dwell on the creation of a novel soul that has leaned from the past but now moves on into a new spiritual being ...

there is so much history to get through-i wonder if it will ever be okay--i wonder about that often--an what about the wars and ravages one nation to another before white man destroyed, and the nations in other countries throughout history--it seems that humans have always killed, tortured etc each other--we are a strange animal

Sad memories are sad enough without a constant reminder from historians...though then again those that forget history are bound to repeat it...e

Very well formulated and intense in the pain for native and non-native alike. I do not think sorry can make a true difference unless it carries with it a promise it will not happen again. Not to Native Americans, not to Mexicans, not to Africans nor any other race of people.

ungrateful men,
coming with blackened hearts,
to destroy all around you.

So sad and tragic, the horrendous way our nation was begun, by taking away what others had, all in the so called name of 'Freedom.'
