Poem Artwork

Dedicated to “Eli Deer Heart” Sioux brave

Special, you are very special
said the Old Father in the sky
when Eli, resolute, asked Him
“I am here, but…who I am?”

“Eli, for your dear mother
you are certainly the only one,
the first she sees every morning
and before sleep the happy last.”

“Eli, said Manitou, “you became
a young brave, love in his hands
stronger than buffalo stampede to
tender bestow upon his mah-mah”

“Special, he will be very special”
Manitou said to Medicine Man,
“Eli will be the friend you wished
and a blessing in anybodys life”

"Eli Deer Heart" is not a child anymore.
