Before all the marvelous poems praising Independence Day shouldn't we look at the other side of the medal?
Not to rain on your parade's fireworks I elected today to post this one for nearly a million of my surviving buddies that deserve they 4th of July more than anybody else.
Dedicated to Larry G. a very ill Nam Veteran forgotten by his Nation.
4th of July, our Independence Day,
dominoes falling in Nam we didn’t see,
but younger Brothers and Sisters dying
to give to others their unwanted “liberty”
the one with chains wrapped in velvet
from liars men with corrupted policy.
From the forgotten Ardennes battle fields
to the “gimme and take” Hamburger Hill,
I heard my Brothers and Sisters soldiers
on this 4th of July, they are marching in,
a legion of saddened dead Servicemen
trying to dry from all forgotten Veterans
“their sea of tears”
I couldn't help but cry Georg!

THEY more than any other, should be there and be made aware WHY, this Holiday is Celebrated!
I appreciate and love your heart, spirit,willingness to Service/Etc. to share with others that NEED to know! What "YOU" know! Thank YOU Georg~!

Dear Georg,
This is a very fitting tribute to our military service people. We are forever indebted to them.
I read an article on washingtonpost.com on the 25th and was shocked. Knew there were problems, but the comments left by Vets were the real eye-opener! I'm sure that's just the tip of the bucket. They stopped the input, it was so large and bitterly honest. The heading was 'Groups Eye VA To Reform Disability Claim Procedures'. This is a black spot on America. And your poem an impassioned plea among many pleas that seem to have fallen on dead ears for decades...
Georg, Your photo says it all. Your poem touches our hearts with truth and sadness! Very well done Georg, Sometimes life is very odd, and things don't really seem in touch with reality. Soon there will be a day of reckoning...

Dear Georg,
You write the truth and it's sad. I for one won't ever forget the sacrifice made by those who fought for our freedom in Viet Nam as well as other wars. I worked in a Veteran's hospital for many years and saw first hand how the Viet Nam vets were treated differently. Thank you for this poem.

I hear ya, bro',
In this country though,
Veterans are no longer heard,
Governments memories are blurred,
And people just don't seem to care,
Thats what has in the recent past occured...Ed
I worked for a quadroplegic Navy Veteran at his home, it was the most rewarding experience as I took him everywhere-actually he drove his custom van. He showed me a great time come to think of it, but he had not been in his chair or out of his bed in 5 years. He had lost his motivation until I met him.
I wonder what people would think to come to a celebration parade & all they seen where our War Veterans...not the decorated uniforms of perfection, but the tattered flags & the wheelchair bound & the amputated, the physical & mental scars openly in the streets tossing candy...and then seeing one man whom perhaps was called a street bum....awareness is knowledge & Thank You for this Poem

Our Vietnam Veterans are long overdue the parades, the honor - our government, our citizenry, seem to remember the troops, except the Vietnam Veterans. Not *this* daughter, sister, niece, cousin of Veterans, as well as a USAF Veteran, myself: I made it a point long ago to welcome home any Vietnam Veteran that MADE it home with a (((HUG))) and a "Welcome home, Soldier, welcome home. Thank you for your service." And I thank you, Georg. Welcome home, Soldier. (((HUGS)))
Thank you, as well, for remembering because many won't. It's because of Veterans and those who serve that we are free to celebrate Independence Day. Well done.

Our forgotten veterans - something far more of us should be ashamed of in America as we prepare to celebrate Independence Day - yet, so many of us seem to care less about their horrendous plight today.
Even worse, our leaders have ignored them far too long - the existing one million veteran disability claim backlog today truly proves that.
I hope many listen to you, and I hope many will make contacting their legislators on behalf of our vets a part of their July 4th holiday remembrance.
This is sad but I do believe it is a strong statement that needs to be made and by someone who has the authority and deserves to be heard, my hat is off to you my friend.

Some fled to Canada, others burned their draft cards, yet our brave soldiers fought for their liberty just the same. How we treated Nam Veterans is a disgrace on our Nation.
This book consists of a 150 pages of Christian poetry about the end of time and the Second coming of Jesus Christ not as a servant but as a King, the King of kings. To bring righteousness and peace to the earth and restore the government of God! Peac
