 To The Very Last Drop

The cupboard was
very nearly bare..
But, what?
Was that, lying there!

Her hands trembled
As she lifted
The corner
Of the napkin
And peeked, eyes
Open wide..

Oh me, oh my
to her great surprise
The napkin concealed
a slice of bread
inside!

She carefully
gathered it
onto a small dish
examining it
for mold.

And after
turning
it over
again and
again
she lifted it
up, crying
Behold!

Now she
placed it into
 the toaster
and set it to
Golden Brown

Meanwhile after
stirring her cup
so she at last
might wake up
she laid her Tea
spoon down.

The toaster
popped
The toast to
on top
of the ancient
metal toaster

While she
scoured the
shelves for
a butter pat
or something
like that,
again feeling
what her job
loss had cost
her.

Nothing left
Nothing to
choose from
Nothing
because
there was
no money.

A tear started
to fall as
she leaned
against the wall
straining on
tiptoe..

And then she
spotted the
honey!

Oh, LORD,
she cried,
You always
supply!

 She
lifted the
honey
from the
shelf but
really
had to
steady
herself

When her smile
turned to
a frown
as she brought
the honey
down.

For, in there,
was only the
very last
drop.

She held the jar
and prayed
giving thanks for
another day
then poured it..
until it
stopped.

She swore she’d
never seen
anything
so beautiful as that
lengthening
golden bead...
                         '
                         '
                         '

Slowly making
its way
down and out,
struggling to
reach the
tea.

Oh, the riches
of the LORD!
she groaned
inside.

And as it fell
into her cup
her face
lightened
right back
up..

Ummm..
The tea was
sweeter
than expected
she mused then
deflected,
for being a
single
drop!

And dipping
her toast
into the tea
she embraced
yet another
reality..

That last drop
she said, is
just like
when You bled
to save a
wretch
like me!

The steam
from her tea
rose from
her porcelain
cup..

Thank You, Jesus
 for supplying
all of my
needs.. yea
 to the
 very last
drop.

And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.                                                                                                            Philippians 4:19 NLT

How beautiful to see her journey through poverty, always giving thanks for her portion. We have so much to thank God for. This is a beautiful reminder.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Love,
Connie
