I never thought of salvation when I saw the lady in distress that day.
It wasn’t to earn Salvation that made me stop and pray.
I didn’t give to the poor so I would find a place in God's Holy Kingdom.
It was not to add stars to my crown for I have none that made me fight for all men’s freedom.
I did these things because you once came to me and told me of your love and asked that I love you in return.
I want to serve because while we live in sin Jesus died for us on a cross high above the crowds that some may learn
That love is the greatest gift one can give and it is our only real salvation.
This love should know no boundaries or borders and should spread through every nation.
In short I know my Salvation is a gift from my Heavenly Father to me; given because he cares.
And because he cares I find I care, too. It is his love I want to share.
No great reward will I ever ask for he has given freely with his son’s resurrection flight.
And this why I serve him with love and admiration simply because it’s right.

You share so much conviction and truth in this poem. I've always heard the saying that if a good deed is done for us, we should "pay it forward" by helping someone else. I guess, in our own unique way, if we spread the love that God has given to us to those who may need it or need to know such love is waiting, we are "paying forward" the best gift we can share with another.
Thanks for this beautiful poem!
