Sand Castles

Bare feet

Nestled deep in sugar white sand

Blanketed in the residual radiance

Of an ebbing April evening

Breeze blithely rustling

Sun bleached sea oats

Standing bended sentry over

Softly meandrous dunes

Pillowing in mimed repetition

The arching curvature of this feminine form

Alabaster hues of crystalline grains

Entice the opaline phosphorescence

Rolling waves of placid twilight tide

Azure and foam frothed

Skimming serpentine at shore’s edge

Sheltered by earth’s sunset ceiling

Sprays of turquoise and pink

Billowing accents of heaven’s tiered clouds

Chill of spring salt water shivers

As salmon painted toes burrow tunnels

From surface heat to cool pools beneath

I seek warmth and shelter in

Your  distant arms

Eager for the essence of your voice

To compliment the whispers of the wind

And soaring  pelican’s call

Memories etched with conch quill in

Sands smoothed by transient tide

And steady breeze

Punctuated with ocean’s treasure

Shells chambered and hinged

Fossilized coils worn smooth

Sand dollars of unattainable price

Pipers humor me, skittering frantically

Across meandering glazed ripples

Stopping briefly to bathe in forgotten moats

And conquer turreted castles

Where the hermit crab stands sentry

Unafraid, though I am near…

In tranquility of driftwood dream

You build a fire for us against the dune

With sweet repose we wish

Upon horizon’s rising moon while you

Lull me to slumber with lilting Celtic ballad

And promises of other castles...

Other shores to discover

I feel your naked chest in rise and fall

Breath rolling as the tide against my back

Mist-like spray of lips caress my neck

Your knees fit perfectly

Into the hollows of mine, I lay

Encompassed within your arms

A’ float on current of ecstasy

Now adrift in the timeless evening's

Sea of imagination

Taylor, I came to AD tonight looking for something beautiful to read. I stopped by here because I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. This poem is a treasure!

Taylor, I was spellbound by this poem. I had to read it out aloud; for it carries the sweep and rhythm of the waves. Too beautiful to be rushed, too gentle to be finished. You capture the reader with your choice of words, segue of images, and romantic theme make this a true masterpiece.

Thank you - love Fergus

Taylor, your imagery is amazing! You paint a picture with your words that is filled with texture... not just splashes of color. You let me see it through your eyes and for a visually challenged person like myself, that is sometimes difficult to do... you have done it! Bravo!!

Sincerely
Myrna

I love the images in this, and your colorbox of verbal hues is gathering momentum as those posies of wildflowers in the open fields.

The last line put a different slant on what could have been real experience, on a real beach, and juxtaposed it with the possibility of a vision in the bathtub.

I was enamored of the line: "Your knees fit perfectly into the hollows of mine"

This is easily applied to areas of thought and experience other than the obvious. A metaphor for communication or unity, or even accolades for a teammate that balanced perfectly with you in competition.

Taylor . . . there are several that are growing in depth and articulation in this den - you are one!

Never rest your delicious pen Poet, and keep dipping it into the sensual inks of imagination!

Total and satisfying completeness is here. A whole world, in fact. And you have brought us just the right details to enable us to feel and see exactly every nouance and detail of the whole picture. As much left out as put in, you are a perfect poet. Bless you and thank you. Kate xx

I agree with the consensus of opinion below..

The imagery here is awesome...you obviously think in pictures and images, which is a key quality for a writer and everything else...:)

I remember getting a beautiful sand dollar at Long Beach, California and collecting those State Lucky Pennies ( cost 2 dollars each ) in the 24 States I visited doing Route 66 last year..

The poem...well...it don't get any better than this
Unless you have a vivid imagination...;D

You capture it all so completely Taylor. Most excellent tempo, emotions, rhythm and visuals mixed all up so well with passion that I smell the saline, feel the humid breeze wrap my face in a caress and Taylor...I am there...toes curled in the silk granules...phospherous being kicked up as I walk on the beach. I see you here Taylor...this is so awesome it makes me homesick. You did an outstanding pen here .
Love and harmony.
