An unexpected visit to the notion that life imitates art… Inspired by an unpredicted second viewing of a film a year after the first…an enlightening rerun.

Poem Artwork

Metamorphose Cine

Memory jog…how synchronal...

Was it the timeliness of this revisit?

Cinematic scenario scrambling to the screen

Of what was or might have been.

Recalling that initial view, as I sat,

Transfixed in the chilled captivation of

Theatric darkness,

Seduced by the plasmatic punch…

Witness to a screenplay,

Seemingly trivial

Yet so perceptibly profound

That emotion smothered…choked... as

I viewed, in empathy, that romance on the screen…

Openly weeping,

Searching…questioning…dazed…

Mourning the essence of time and love lost.

Memories rekindled against the flicker

of personal rip-rap…

Spirit vulnerable.

Yet now…..a year beyond,

I find myself unwittingly

Retracing this momentary matinee,

Discovering a second serving of relevance

Cast by unexpected replay…

Delectable now, as life’s reel,

In dramatic déjà vu,

Rewrites the scenes.

I, consciously aware,

Welcome the certainty of

What once seemed only a dream,

So penetrating, so extraordinary…

Promising a hope

Destined to find me alive as if on that screen

In vivid metamorphosis,

Elated…confident…serene…

Birthing a sensual baptism

Of self and spirit in balance.

I embrace the rarity of this

Divine persuasion… a promise

Witnessed as life and imagination

Serendipitously imitate

Love’s visually sensitive display

In a magnificent twist

Of  fantastic premonition.

Let kismet be the elative precursor

Of emotion’s undeniable premier.

poem moved me to eyes welled in tears. You
have such a gift with imagery and free thought
within every line, Taylor. Indeed you have a
rare gift with words. I loved the last lines!

Our perceptions change from moment to moment, more so over time!
Good to read you again. I wonder if I would view "Gone with the wind the same way I did, for 4 hours last time LOL. Somehow doubt it, and besides, it would have to be on a comfortable lounge chair now.

Hugs to you Taylor

"Let kismet be the elative precursor
Of emotion’s undeniable premier." I was drawn into the scene...perhaps I was viewing the same old movie you were, Taylor. The romance in this write, the spectrum of emotion, the introspection...all moved me. Absolutely gorgeous poetry. Lydi**

Only days ago you apologized for not writing more. This one is proof that we need to get you into hibernation for a while, and then turn you loose. This is amazing and a spirit-lifting account of how we warm up to life, and then move on to what is fulfilling and worthwhile. I'll never believe that your muse has flown, and if it has, it's only circling overhead to make sure the drama is staged correctly. Praise is to Taylor, the master of what love can be if not held back. With much praise - - Bill

Taylor, this is amazing and many of us can identify in some shape or form, I am sure. It's like, for the REALLY important things in life, we need first to have our minds, souls, spirits, hearts opened and alerted to the Real Deal before we can fully accept the reality. A warm-up of the consciousness and yes, this can often be through the medium of "fiction" in one way or another. Retrospect is an interesting privilege and we can perhaps trace many such "foreshadowings" with its benefit. Your writing is beautifully sinuous here which sets the mood and tone wonderfully. Bless you, Kate xx

It is amazing to look back and realize how one's perceptions of life and self can change so dramatically in such a relatively short period of time.
"I, consciously aware,
Welcome the certainty of
What once seemed only a dream,"
Follow that certainty, born from cinematic dream, and know that in the now of today, it is real. This is a strong introspective piece which draws the reader into the mind and heart of the inspired poet -a very lovely offering here, Taylor.

As beautiful as anything I've ever read, deeply touching Taylor. The circle of life is never interrrupted, it just seems to be at times.
