You have captured Mesa Verde perfectly in this delightful poem. We were there several years ago, and it was a long drive out to the location. The forest had all burned. However, once we arrived at the site, I appreciated all those people went through for survival. I love the West and could easily live in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I like Colorado, too, but it's so out of control, I wouldn't want to live there like I once did.
