Good descriptive write of Chief Powhatan. Been to Va but only passing through mostly, would of loved to have seen his village and some historical facts about him to be learned. You have given quite a few here though and if I read the series, I am sure to learn more. thanks for these historical writes.

Amber, this very well done poetry about an historic figure who many don't even know about. If not for the benevolence of him and his tribe the Europeans would have really been in the schit.

The native Americans are and always will be an interesting group of people. Poetry like yours keeps their culture alive--and we could all learn from them. Terrific poem.

The Karena Series is a valuable vehicle, a simple canoe to inform your readers of the native ways which are absolutely mysterious. First Meeting With Chief Powhatan superimposes native alliances on those of us living in this century. Also, this piece and many of your others ask the question "How shall we account for this nation spreading wars when there should be peace?" And of course, Pocahontas was honored in the early 1900s with her picture on a trading card in a pack of bubble gum and a postage stamp, and a few years ago with her story told on screen.
