Just thought I'd write a poem based on this expression I first heard when I came to Texas, but don't hear it very much anymore. The fatalistic Jim Crow acceptance of the worst that could happen.

Sometimes

Sometimes, it bees that way.

Sun and moon no longer light,

the night or the damn day.

Been that ways for so long,

feel like I’s been dead and gone.

Dropdead and lost my mind gone.

She had to leave me afore,

the springtime planting came.

Worst time of all, jus plain lame.

Ran off with some gamblin’ man,

promised to put riches in her hand.

While I work the dirt best I can.

Sometimes, it bees that way.

Woman comes, then goes away.

Ain’t no rhyme or reason, anyway.

But it's been awful dark,

this rain soaked muddy spring.

Lookin’ for her smile to bring.

Sunshine back into my life.

End this awful time of strife.

Sometimes, it bees that way.

Jus lookin’ for that sunny day.

Darkness before the storm , twilight before dawn, but the sun will shine, just hang on and it will be so bright! You won’t remember the darkness of yesterday, a very good write, Ron!

So weary, so downtrodden. Haven't we all felt just this emotion at some time in our lives, even if not exactly in this way?

I like the language used in this poem. Something that I have not seen from you before. Well, I hope he finds his sunshine again very soon.

"Sometimes, it bees that way..."

That is a new expression for me. The whole poem is different from your usual style I think. Very good though. It reminds me of a French Canadian song that has the exact same theme. Love, peace, and best wishes to you, Ron.

Indeed, after this long, tedious pandemic, we are all waiting for "sunshine back into my life and end this awful time of strife." Well said.

Wonderful play on words, while bringing to mind the strife so many face. Sadly, many farmers today are hooked on extreme right misinformation and in Oregon, a number of counties are now vying to become part of Idaho, thinking nirvana is better attained there. Loved this one.
