"The Fugitive" describes my escape from the captors of my past. It reeks of victory but also accountability.
The Fugitive
I finally got away--- I'm free!
No longer a prisoner to the desires and decisions of others.
I'm running, running in a direction of my choice, of my mind, or my freewill. Not living my life for others to live there through. Not talking the way others talk just to fit in or belong.
I'm undressing---undressing, stripping--- freeing my body of the demands of my people (my people?)-no, the people-who try to dictate who I am, what I stand for, and why I stand for it.
I'm leaping, leaping and skipping around others who block me, doubt me, want to stop me-because I know that only I control who I am and who I will be.
Yet, along my journey I am praying, praying and meditating on who really has freed me from all I have endured, will endure, and will continue to endure. And with that on my heart I slow down, not stopping, but slow down enough to make sure that as I go on accomplishing, go on acquiring, and go on achieving that I don't get ahead of Him, don't walk behind Him-but beside Him.
Because I realize that if I stick close to Him I will not just be His slave and He my Master.
We will be friends.

I love both the poem and the art work. We are all slaves to one thing or another in one way or another. You however chose your master well, for only in him can you truly find the perfect friend.
This piece got me thinking about who these captors might be. I venture that it will intrigue others as well. for me its my childhood so full of rules and so much work... poetry that talks to others drawing memories from their lives is the best!! I love it!
