Cool write, I had a 55 Chevy Belair that I sold when it hit 152.000 miles. The car was like a tank, it was so amazing and needed hardly any maintenence except for checking water, oil, changing oil and filter. Nothing but a radio and heater, no air conditioning, nothing. Manual steering, manual brakes and I used to have to pump the brakes and stand on them to stop the car. No directionals either, used hand signals. Yet to this day, as Robert is my witness, I still say it was the best car I ever owned. Oh yea, and bench seats, roll down windows that I loved. The Cobalt I have today has hand crank windows and I love it, don't like the electronic ones. In the other car we have electronic windows and I refuse to get in the car unless the windows are rolled 1/2 way down. I even keep a crow bar under the passenger seat so if I have to in an emergency I can break it. Had one for the truck too.

We had an old Mercedes like that back in the 70s. We could haul a trailer with a racing-modified Alpha Romeo on top of it all over the NE. Watkins Glen NY, Limerock, CT., Nelson Ledges Ohio, Mosport Ontario, Poconos PA, etc. Unbelievable the crap they put out these days.
