Poem Artwork

I am used to you, I know all the weak spots

All those holes in the walls

Of our marital bliss

You and me are thick

With life &  time & blood

We have drowned in our suffering

One too many times to ever be strangers

We lost our lives, lost our ways

Too many times to not know home

For as long as it was one

We stood beside each other

Just to stand alone

If I could make a religion out of my sorrows

It would be to venerate that which doesn't kill us making us stronger

Tthen we would be strong like the tides

Slapping the beach in a storm

Moving forward like an avalanche as it slips down a mountain

And if pain could be a fire, all thats left would be the ashes

A forest fire burned quick like a wind through the trees

We kept finding kindling just to watch the flames

I don't mind now that the dirty laundry was more than

A 100 lines across our yard could hold

Because all of this was our  bed

We made blood red wine &  wild thorns

We tasted hatred straight from the vine

We made life and we made death

We made it through the days locked in a  paradox of suffering

Where only we were crazy enough to stay

Sad story heartwrenching, happens so often too. I hung out the wash for 4 girls many a day, in freezing winter, steamy summer, did not cause him to stay or appreciate me. He was not strong enough to stay, maybe that is so true of you here too.

Love your picture. I wish we could still hang laundry outside, everthing smells so go when you take it down and bring it in. Haning white clothes outside to dry in the sunlight, you sure do not need any bleach!! Enjoyed reading your bittersweet write and how we deal with what life in general hands us.

Be safe,
Karen

Well, you really hung out your wash with that one, at the first sight of blood hit those tracks of mud!

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
