Poems on poverty

Please be quiet Just have they Few innocent faces Fallen into slumber Not in a cozy couch But in the nook of Ramshackle shed. My wife has just Nourished them Not with sumptuous bread and butter, But have beguiled them With fairy tales and water I don't even have a penny To buy a cigarette, And I just wonder� How this night will pass. And if your Screeching voice Breaks the lull of the night And enters into my shed. Those innocent beings Will wake up And will cry� Hungry! Hungry! Hungry!

This one reminds me of my days when hubby amd I fell on hard times...yes, it was just bread and water. Not even butter.

Thank God those days didn't last too long!
