I applied with hopes
That I could do
A Borders book event
I got the email
And it asked me
If I could, and so I went
Meanwhile many
Blessed family members
Worked behind the scenes
Making posters,
Putting them around
And sending out flyers
In between
My (shameless promoting genius)
Son Patrick and friend Skip
Made the posters
My awesome Mom and Dad worked the pr
Greatest fan --and author, too--Sis
Put on a beautiful
Reception with flowers
And brother and Jane surprised me
And traveled from afar...
Son --also a writer--Ben
Taped the whole happening
While my photographer Dad
Took 56 pics
Son Brad was busy buying
A new skateboard
And hubby happily greeted
Old friends in the crowd mix
Granddaughters went up
And down the escalator
Daughter-in-law smiled
As much as me
And Pat brought girlfriend
Brittan--y
Brother-in-law Ken looked comfy
In the book store
And seeing my sixth grade teacher
Was totally the best
Along with my flute mentor
Who had tears in her eyes
And a heaving proud chest
To say it wasn't a highlight
Of my author's strife
Would be a gross misrepresentation
I had the time of my life
