Just heard about a contest
Inspired by the American Idol show
Involving a different kind of
Idle Americans we all know
Sitting in a prison
No matter what put you there
Gives you lots of time
On your hands and
Reasons you might
Want to share
The talents you were given
The positive ones at that
So out in Arizona
Is where the Idle Americans are at
Singing out their hearts
They narrowed it down to six
And these stri-ped prison inmates
Got a different kind of fix
They entertained the others
And heard cheers all for them
This could make a difference
And to that I say Amen

Thanks for the link but guess what? It is the same jail that the contest was held at and the same sheriff...he is truly trying lots of ways to make differences in the way things are done on the "inside." THANKS AGAIN...HUGS
I am with Ron on this, but anything that can give a down and out person hope and a reason to reform, I am for that also. I think that there are a lot of things that prisoners could be doing, not the least, growing and raising their own food, cleaning the highways, etc. I think that the idle time is not in their best interest and giving prisoners a job that can teach them pride would be a big step toward their rehabilitation. Nice take on a nation phenom. I'm for chain gangs and hard, physical work, give them something to do besides free education, movies, TV, and the Internet.
