"Little pink houses" sell well in John Mellencamp's songs, but these days you have to make sure you have granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, backsplashes (really?), hardwood or tile floors, and upscale bathrooms… Even in a little "fixer upper," a sow's ear can be turned into a silk purse. It only takes money.

Must say: I'm having to guess the American lingo. lol

A rear-yard lagoon stocked weekly with Rainbow trout--is that too much to ask? Or the convicted tax-return cheater who stashed bags of currency in the walls? Oh, I get it: In the garage which is hidden from view is parked a paid-for red Ferrari. You see, Louisa, some things are worth a second look. But a 150 x 60 property? In Southern California, they could build 4 tract houses in that much space worth $500,000 each. Nice tree though!

Oh, I'm not so sure. It's pink with a driveway leading into the front room with lots of trash can storage space in front. And a well guarded by logs. In the south we call that upscale.
