Times gone by...passing homeless veterans today. Mines in disarray. "Be nice, we need each other". (Don't miss your blessing)

Back in the day, bombs firing off

lights so bright, see it in the sky...

low crawling, nervously trying

not to explode my load. Past

by my buddy, lying on the ground, dead. 

Life will return when I'm back at home. 

From Vietnam, America, here I come.

The awards of honor given today by President Barack Obama reminded me of this poem I wrote recently. I hope these soldiers of war did not suffer the problems as the veterans here although I'm sure most did. . Only three of 20 were available to receive their awards. So long ago they were not reconginized because they were the wrong color fighting for America's freedom.

SO MANY SPECIAL INDIVIDUALS SACRIFICE THEMSELVES TO KEEP OUR NATION SAFE...WE SHOULD AT LEAST TRY TO HELP THEM IN WHATEVER WAY WE CAN. FOR, TO NOT HAVE A ROOF OVER ONE'S HEAD THAT THEY CAN CALL THEIR OWN IS A VERY SAD THING, BUT WHAT'S DOUBLY SAD IS TO NOT HAVE A COUNTRY...WHO CARES. THANKS FOR THIS REMINDER...WELL DONE! I see far too many of them, each and every day,
And they deserve far better from our nation.

You just inspired me to offer a dollar to each of the next 10 homeless people I see and say "thanks for your service to our country." And why not? At some time in their past they did something really special for us, Otherwise, they could not have survived.
