Jonah's Journey

Jonah, never the captain of his fate,
wanted control and ran from God's command,
yet God holds all in the palm of His hand.
Jonah slept through a storm-- hid in great dread.
Then his shipmates cast lots--headed toward land,
"Just throw me in I may as well be dead."
The deep dark ocean rolled over his head.

A great fish gulped him--he was in despair--
after three dark nights Jonah breathed fresh air.
He waited for wicked Ninevah's destruction
but it was he who needed instruction,
as the Lord chose to forgive not destroy.
Another hard earned lesson for our boy.
