Best To Forgive

If someone accidentally on purpose hurts you
You’re apt to respond defensively in kind
Its a humanistic natural response
When someone upsets your mind.

You want to retain the balance
Of a sometimes wavering and delicate lot
Guard against worrisome insecure feelings
From lingering traumas and pain you’ve got.

Your strength lies in holding no grudges,
And never resorting to taking revenge
Which merely provokes and solidifies anger
Destroying the fragile balance hinge.

Keep a delicate and timid nature to forgive
Voiced words callously turned unkind
Not because the wrong-doer deserves forgiveness
But because you deserve a peaceful mind.

Good sound advise. Its best to forgive and forget and go on as best one can..Being angry or mad , takes a lot of negative energy. Postive is so much better!...M

"Best To Forgive" sound advice and most definately nurturing to oneself. Although some may feel they should retaliate, we all know it does not make one feel good on the inside. Guard the beauties of ones soul to stay at peace and well-balanced.

Loved this and beautiful graphic/display.
Blessings to you Jeanette,
~Gwendolyn

It takes an incredible amount of energy to 'hold onto' crap. It wears you down and keeps you from moving forward. Personally, I don't like to be in a rut or held down.

I 'deserve a peaceful mind' and when I forgive I feel so much better.

You are a most insightful woman.

A wise perspective indeed, Jeanette; sound advice. Thank you. Love and best wishes,

This is the end result of life's struggles with being hurt by other. So often we don't seem to find the time or emotions to Truly Forgive others of their short comings. And the bitterness builds inside like a Wall full of Jagged stones waiting to fall on the next one who attempts to cross that boundary. I have been there, many times.

Forgiveness, What is it? For me it is letting go of the hurt that has been inflicted on me, in an attempt to show compassion instead of Hate to the person who is doing the hurting. It seems that this person may not even be aware that what they have said or are doing has hurt anyone, or maybe they don't even care. Maybe if I show them compassion and forgiveness, maybe that will be a Light to them someday, a marker in time for them to recall and say this is what Love is all about.

I don't know, maybe it is a good thing, maybe not. I do know this, by holding bitterness inside you, your soul starts to look like that jagged wall of stone. And pretty soon, you start becoming that Ugly Wall of Bitterness. It over takes all your emotions, and takes root till you are a Bitter person with No Love or compassion for your fellow man, and your heart becomes hard and jagged like that ugly wall.

I choose Forgiveness. If for no other reason then my own peace of mind.

Amen sister...revenge as well as a grudge can eat one inside out! Been there done that, it's not worth it for our own health and peace of mind! It is better to forgive and move on, life is too short! Wise write! Enjoyed!

Excellent! Even moreso in light of the fact that God will not forgive us unless we forgive those that trespass against us. Blessings ...

Jeanette,
This is so very true. Forgiving does take energy, but it is possible to forgive that person, and then you really have to let it go..Save your energy for the positive people and things in your life!
Lovely poem.
