A ripple here, a ripple there.....

It does not have to be this way,
heard this said before.
Time to take a nice long walk,
along the frozen shore.

A ripple here, a ripple there

A place of peace where time stands still,
to welcome each day with open arms.
Life runs smoothly under the current,
a display of mystery with all its charms.

A ripple here, a ripple there

A chance to regain some perspective,
on which direction suits us best.
To see ahead, first take a look back,
allowing fate to take care of the rest.

A ripple here, a ripple there

A ripple here, a ripple there,
ocean slithers over ageless land.
It is for you God I share my tears,
bow my head, and reach out my hand.

A ripple here, a ripple there

Twilight brings the renewal we seek,
no boaters, no skiers, and no surfers in sight.
A chance to repent, a chance to pray,
alone in the quiet that comes with the night.

A ripple here, a ripple there

How easy is it for us to forget,
or are they lessons some were never taught.
The home of the brave, the land of the free,
yet, in a downward spiral we are caught.

A ripple here, a ripple there

Our forefathers gave all they had,
to see an ideal, a dream come to pass.
Wives, children, homes, land, and self,
like no other generation yet to surpass.

A ripple here, a ripple there

Give me liberty, or give me death,
around the world became the heard cry.
Yet now we are in a conundrum of sorts,
do we now give up, or continue to try.

A ripple here, a ripple there

It does not have to be this way,
heard this said before.
Time to take a nice long walk,
along the frozen shore.

the ripples of the progressives are many and devious -- liberty, democracy and freedom hang in the balance of, "a ripple here, a ripple there", Karen -- passion for your nation, concern for the future of our great land weigh emotionally on you in your poem --those of us who treasure liberty, will always be challenged by those who seek to rule without democracy and personal liberties -- may peace and love be with you and our nation always my dear friend -- Jon Michael

The promised land neith your feet hasn't changed, the attitude to it and God though has, and all that you mention, (freedoom) included, you cannot be free and safe at the same time. The country is in a lockdowm, and the jailers are fear and the peddlars thereof, fear of forces external, instead the beast within. You do great pennance and reflection with you pen dear Karen,Hugs! Karen,
Good to see you back. We all get a ripple here and a ripple there, it's in how we handle those ripples that make us who we are. You are a very strong and courageous woman.
May your ripples send healing waves back to you all the time.
Much peace, love, and light,
Amber "V"

This outstanding writing has political implications, but I do not want to get into that since I am not a republican, or Democrat. However the message it sends is important. Excellent writing, Karen.

GOD BLESS

Great poem, Karen, very much so because you just spoke some truth and did NOT lay blame anywhere. It is the American people who are at fault for this turn of events. We have become used to government managing our lives. Hands outstretched for more. Politicians promise more hand outs to get elected, it is a never-ending revolving door. Blame us, not so much the shallow politicians. I hope we have learned our lessons, the country has rebounded with unheard of strength, Tea Parties, etc., it is past time to wake up.

Sadly is to say that America has entered Moses forty years of desert wandering in search of the promised land.
Maybe we should ask Bush, Cheney, the Republicans & Democrats to where they have relegated it.

Embracing solitude and all of creation in meditation's silence. It all comes into clearer view when we clear our minds in a nice long walk. Gives us a chance to reflect on where we've been and where we're going, Karen...inspirational and thought-provoking title, A ripple here, a ripple there...be well you and Robert...his eye through the viewfinder is as sharp as your eye through the quill...a partnership Creator is proud of...Blessed Be.

Love,
Sage
