Halloween antics......

Wind is howling, clouds dark and heavy,
dry leaves circling all around.
Faint whistles finding their way indoors,
time to get out and clean up the ground.

Ghosts and goblins know the time is near,
many lost souls searching for a place.
Sneaking, hiding, trying to unglue,
wreaking havoc, yet leaving not a trace.

Time is getting short, decorations still boxed,
better get going and get all up to see.
Music plays, while windows transform,
with witches, wolves, bats, into something eerie.

Pumpkins carved wearing unusual grins,
with black straw like hair, sporting a hat.
Puppies underfoot filled with curiosity,
smelling the chocolate, here comes a cat.

Let the games begin as pups chase cats,
jumping over a can of orange foam spray.
Grim Reaper in one hand, witch in the other,
on the floor Indian corn getting in the way.

One-pup trips, the other grabs the corn,
running through the house leaving a trail.
Dish full of chocolate, cats pick up the scent,
waving proudly is a fuzzy black tail.

Chase the pups first, corn not good to eat,
grab the kitty indulging in chocolate so sweet.
Now puppy in one arm, kitty in the other,
is a battle royal for no soul to meet.

The hour is late and time is running short,
decorations are still all over the floor.
Finished the windows, now for the table,
forgot the talking skull hangs outside the door.

Now the tablecloth with smiling pumpkins,
spread across a field of colorful leaves.
Stand up mummy, next to the ghouls,
and the dish of chocolates now in sleeves.

Into the garage to pick up the big pumpkin,
added a bright bulb to offer  plenty of light.
Pumpkin out front, ready for trick or treat,
kitty again by the chocolate in plain sight.
