Poem Artwork

I have been on a teeter totter
Up in the heat of heartache
Down in the cold of neglect

I'm an arid desert parched
Thirsting for your touch
Or a a frozen tundra
Longing for your warm embrace

I can't survive without you , Lord
The extremes to which I'm subjected
Are weakening my resolve to continue

I feel my body slowly relax
As all the tension leaves me
And know that once again
You have heard my plea

Why do we stay dressed in futility
When we have You to remove it ?

God is standing here right next to me, smiling, I imagine, and waiting for me to tell you I've been wearing my blinders again, acting as if I don't have two hands to remove them or simply ask for a little help. Great poem. Dawn

My goodness, how I can relate to this write, Eileen. So often we treat the Bridegroom as if her were the fishmonger, huh (ooops, scuse the awful pun)... giving him a wide berth as if he had those icy fingers, choosing to wrap ourselves in the bearskins of stolid independence and false resolve. Stoicism and being needfully strong are completely different things, I think - and a blessed relief when we finally crumble and "come in from the cold"! I like the uniqueness with which you have expressed your thoughts here and the distinctive POV. Like The Emperor's New Clothes - but different! And don't we just kid ourselves? Neat styling here and well-cut images! :)) TY Kate xx

Why, indeed, Eileen?

Let your soul rest within God's embrace.

An excellent question you pose, Eileen. Perhaps we don't feel that we are worthy of His grace so we sabbotage our lives. We choose sadness so we can escape the responsibility for our own happiness for a time. The road to enlightenment is not only a journey, but it is a long and difficult one. Sometimes we give up for a moment and drop into a futile state. The strong and the believers will pull themselves up and remember that we are not in this life alone, He is taking that journey beside us. Excellent poem of awakening, Eileen.
Take care,
Sherry

The painting reminds me of the Democratic Party devoid of ideas and direction but the poem asks a powerful question that only each of us in our hearts can answer. Splendid write.

A powerful testimony with strong concepts and questions. One proffered answer is some folks tend to be addicted to their pain and so reject the spiritual balm of which WEARING THE WRONG CLOTHES sings so beautifull. Thanks for sharing a dynamic write.
