I felt death last night
it passed me by
I don't know why
I felt sure the
overgrown path of
weeds and stubble
that I was forced to
walk on  barefoot as
my heart did an
eratic death dance
while hot pain shot
up through every
fibre of my entire
being as I caught a
glance at the grim
dark cave with its
gaping maw seeming
to beckon me for the
 kill, and I'm here still
laid out in my bed
with pain unending
wound unmending
but still here, am I
supposed to care
that death passed
me by, I can only
ask why?
I admit to a fright
But, it didn't last
I was angry that
it went by so fast
I wanted it to take me
to end this suffering
quickly no more misery

I appealed to
the Supreme
who answered me
with a dream:

I was descending
into the abyss
felt the wings
of a gorgons kiss
as they brushed
over me with glee
gloating on having
their way with me
horrified I could only
wait and see

Empty mouths and
 eyes gaped at me
maniacal laughter
followed my journey
an incubus was beckoning
in the hellish pit of reckoning
paralyzed in total fear
until I screamed
" GET OUT OF HERE"
 Answer:
"This is  the death you wanted,
before its time my dear"

Chilling powerful write, Eileen. A detour from your usual. I have also begged the creator for death. But I must wait for my time. I know for sure that we have an afterlife with our creator. Once you know, you really know! Those who don't know God, have no clue about the power of His presence.

Whether in His grace or out for a time, we lovers of truth are pursued, by what the forces of darknes want, they want death for you and me. But for 2000 and some years the battle' s been won, our Lord from death did us free. But don't think for one minute, that the evil one won't or can't go. roaring around in our seemingly peaceful sleep.

I respect your writing, your talent, and your way of captivating the reader. But, this is hitting yourself and them below the belt. Great composition, but quiet horrible in concept it would seem.
Death is nothing like writers, including some in the Holy Book, describe it, since they don't really know. I'm convinced. For me, death is the deserved sleep of a human being who has given life a good run for the years spent alive. Why not look at it as the sleep of sleep, letting go peacefully, without a worry about an afterlife?

Chances are that the Believers and the Non-believers will be greatly surprised in the hereafter. But, why contemplate, anticipate, worry or care atall? What can who do... about our reaching the deep sleep of death with dignity?

Macabre, Jerry-like stuff, Eileen. I was surprised, but not disappointed. Sometimes we must address the emptiness of our souls before we can fill them with truth and love. Very well done.

You have been given a glimpse of that illusion called Death, but the redeeming hand of the Almighty has plenty more work for you to do here on your earthly pilgrimage, Eileen !
The Ancients depict dreams of Death as a Spiritual Rebirth or Renaissance....Yours is just beginning !

Powerful visions in your write..I too have recently thought of this..I am blown away at how death is simply, easily taking off our earth garment ( like it's a tent) and to just automaticly rejoin our true selves in the after world..I think I am at peace knowing my soul is close to it and how we will be in forver grace, praise..Yeay, I will miss earth only in a tiny way, though..I am almost ready for glorious beauty, harmony, love and praise twenty four seven forever..We are spirits having a physical experience..Howver we should cherih each moment we have and with as many people God gives us to love..Divine write as always..

Love, Jo
