Tahoe storm at twilight

Poem Artwork

Sitting on porch steps to watch sunset
then suddenly a thunderstorm arose
it quickly became  dark and misty
I  took shelter on the covered deck

Sitting there catching hazy glimpses
of the lake as the weather permitted
my scattered thoughts could not take hold
I saw my daydreams getting lost in the storm

I became suspended in a capsule of time
everything was animated ,except me
I could do nothing but observe

I realized my attention was being diverted
to more relevant matters than daydreams
there are lessons to be learned from nature

The tall pines were conversing with the wind
The rain was speaking to the ground
surrounded by the elements I listened
I knew to "be still and know that He is God!"

This is outstanding…I really loved the last stanza…
“The tall pines were conversing with the wind
The rain was speaking to the ground
surrounded by the elements I listened
I knew to "be still and know that He is God!"

You have such a divine communion with nature, Eileen, and the ability to combine it with the human element. That is your gift and you use it so well.
Much love,

Yes, nature can certainly remind us to be still and know God, that is the power of it, it can really set the mind straight! Enjoyed this.

What loveliness in verse, Eileen; all of Nature praises God, and we, who are created in His image, forget that...a powerful reminder!

Exquisite creative verse informed and shaped by prophetic sensibility. Those who exercise an inner awareness often do do indeed see and hear and come to know in exceptional ways, even as the storm approaches, rages, and eventually passes. Much gratitude for the sharing,
