Poem Artwork

I lie upon my bed of dreams
hoping you will appear
you are so busy with your schemes
don't know if you'll be here

I long for you with all my heart
my mind can find no rest
I feel the essence you impart
with head upon my breast

Oh languid days of summer spent
now autumn too is  gone
will winter bring us discontent
no beach to lie upon

These days my love, are skimming by
like waves that come ashore
Soon we'll be like clouds in the sky
dispersed in the azure

Like blades drawn across the night
singing exotic tunes
my fate is caught up in your flight
that captivates the moon

I'm wishing on the stars above
 imagining  their glow
the bed gets lonely for our love
whilst time I cannot slow

etw~

A romantic and sensual poem ET, you write as sweet as a flower giving her nectar to a hummingbird.

To have enough time to do what you want in bed, as well in our lives, that is hard to make...life is way TOO short, even if we live to be a hundred...Ed

ET,
Beautiful flow, rhythm and rhyme here, reminiscent for me of the finer work of Elizabeth Browning in its theme, phrasing and choice of image and vocabulary.

The cadence of this poem is exquisite as it trips and falls and winds around to the crux of the dream...

Such exquisite precision of image and emotion pulls one by the heart and embraces the reader's soul in marvelous way. Tones of melancholy may drift from the shadows of these lines but the persistence of love contained in each makes even those beautiful.

Fabulous write, Eileen. Absolutely spot-on rhyme and metre and the drive through the intensity of longing - impatience almost - is palpable, though the mood is tender and sensual. Reminds me of the sweet but tempestuous in the person of Shakespeare's Juliet, though the viewpoint is seemingly (by the time references) from an older woman's p.o.v. Excellent penmanship here. Wonderfuly wrti, my friend . . . There are a couple of ways to take this poem . . . As a classic love poem to someone who is far away . . . Or it can be metaphysical in respect to the world around you and the Heavens above . . . Either way it works for me . . .
