This piece of artwork is called "Development II". M.C. Escher first created this piece in 1939. Originally, "Development II" was a woodcut piece but later was hand drawn into an illustration. Escher used three different colors to captivate admirers: yellow-brown, grey-green, and black. In "Development II", Escher used tessellation that depicted a reptile emerging from squares. M.C. Escher was fascinated with periodic drawings, but also tried to tessellate non-periodic objects such as animals. Escher used a pattern of shapes and colors to start with. He then gradually morphed the shapes to look like reptiles and the tessellation pattern was complete.

Paint me into your endeavor, and together
we will emanate, your vision will be my vision,
and we will be as vinculum
Bonding together our eyes shall envision our destined infinity ,as you rejuvenate in my radiance, I will rejoice in your resilience. We shall venture into the vault of vibrancy gaining vitality.
Our vision locked eye to eye, I see your desire and it is reflected back to you. As we intermingle our pattern becomes set in the design of virtue, and our cloak is vested in victory.
Soft silken brushes position us into prismatic patterns of pure joy.as each stroke insinuates into the other to embed and embellish in the essence of masterful mathmatic imagery...

Wonderful! Painting season is in full swing; I'm sure Escher would love how you've honoured him and done great justice to your own fine talent, as well.
