A verdant and fertile plain
Stretches for miles;
Where once there was
Nothing but
Dark wasteland
Soft grasses now wave
In a gentle summer wind
To the horizon
Where it is met by
Blue sky and
Sunlight.
From between the blades
Shyly peak the first
Tender blossoms
Of summer,
Putting to rest
The former despair, and
Bringing with them
The promise
Of hope.
The vision in the poem seems counter to the vision that I have where the green grasses of much of the planet turned to hot dirt and stone in the continuing droughts the future portends. As for what the future will bring, we really don't know.
