“I think we dream so we don’t have to be apart for so long. If we’re in each other’s dreams,
we can be together all the time.” A.A. Milne

Poem Artwork

Do you dream of me
As I dream of you?
Am I as real to you
As you are to me?
I wonder of these things
When I think of the nights
We've spent together.
Will we ever truly meet?
Will we at last know
If our lifetime
Of shared nights
Has a basis
In reality?
It is my heart's
Dearest wish
That it is so;
That one day
We will meet,
And touch,
For real.

Perhaps yes, perhaps no. Dreaming is a fickle lot and it doesn't really replace the real thing.

Your words ring out with beauty,
and longing, and hope. Personally, I never
dream of those I love, but that's OK. I am
awake a lot. And then I have a throng of
people to dive into...

I can totally relate to this Rebecca. In today's world of technology and internet, with face time and face book, Skype and other services a person could fall in love and never ever get to touch the person flesh to flesh. It can be wonderful and dreadful at the same time. You captured this topic well in the simplest terms but many will know and feel what you felt in writing these words.
