Just because I'm not forever by your side doesn't mean that's not precisely where I want to be.”
Stephanie Laurens
As the morning star
Bids adieu
To the rising sun,
I slip sadly from
That place
Between dreaming
And awake
Where you and I go
To be together.
I find myself alone,
Snuggled within bedding
Of the softest touch
That always seems to harbor
The faintest whiff
Of your essence.
Though we will be
Together again,
I'm never sure when,
So I go to sleep each night
Hoping you will be waiting
In our special place
That's not quite reality
Nor wholly a dream, either,
Comforted by your assurance
That wherever you go
When we're apart,
You are feeling the same.
Such a beautiful way of expressing a fantasy love that some have in their dreams.
My dreams are so varied, I rarely have a dream lover and they are all passing after a one night stand, so to speak. It's nice to have a real lover around to compensate for not having that unreachable ideal.
It is very easy for me to relate to the "experience" that you describe through your verses, Rebecca... and I totally do. Love, peace, and best wishes to you,
It's fun to write about our fantasies. Even more fun to have them. Those two rarely merge into one. Rita Hayworth was my boyhood fantasy even though she was 20 years my senior. She died at 67 from Alzheimer's. She was married 5 times, so she probably had a million times that many suitors. None of them knew how to take care of my fantasy. But fantasies come and go. Jennifer Lawrence is my current flame. She has a wicked sense of humor. Closer to home, my homegrown fantasy was my age. She died 2 months ago. I still shake just thinking about her. She was perfection, but she did not have a perfect marriage. Thank God poets like you come along, to help saps like me make sense of all these disparate feelings. I will be visiting her gravesite soon to check in on her.
My dreams are so varied, I rarely have a dream lover and they are all passing after a one night stand, so to speak. It's nice to have a real lover around to compensate for not having that unreachable ideal.
