“Happiness is the nectar, love is the Bee.”
--Unknown
The midnight hour
Has come and gone
While my fingers
Have flown across
My keyboard.
The house is silent,
Even the cats sleep;
I am alone,
I thought...
But...
As the images
Of romance
Converge from
My heart
And my mind
To flow sensuously
Down to my fingertips,
A shadow sweeps by
The corner of my eye
And I pause to watch
As it halts nearby.
Somehow, I am not afraid.
I know who it is,
Who he is,
Just by his scent
And the feel of
His presence,
Though he has never before
Appeared outside
Of my dreams.
The shadow becomes
A silhouette, then
He is there,
His shadow now real,
And my heart takes flight
As our eyes meet
Over warm, loving smiles.
“You're here,” I say,
And he nods as he steps closer.
“Yes. I waited,
But you were here
Instead of there,
So I have come to you
Because I could feel
Your dreams
In the words you are sharing
With others.”
“So are we dreaming?”
He smiles softly.
“No, not this time.
This time we will be together
In your world.”
And I stand as he nears,
Takes me in his arms,
So real in my world
As they are in his,
Murmuring his love
As his lips brush my cheeks
My forehead
And, finally,
Meet mine
With the gentle passion
I know will soon
Grow heated,
Consuming and overwhelming us
Until the first light
Of dawn.
It seems as though I could have written this if one had changed the masculine references to feminine ones. I can completely relate to the emotions and meaning you have shared via your verses, Rebecca. Love, peace, and best wishes to you,
Your imagination is alive and well. But the real thing is so much better. You made me recall my high school ideal woman. But the nature of that ideal can change greatly with time and experience
I believe...
Consuming and overwhelming are too much
The essence of love is spiritual, not physical
Where a climax is no substitute for a lot of romance
Where a touch, a sigh, a smile count for a lot more
Than a romp in the hay.
Where uplifting music surpasses explanations
A nod can be explosive
And a walk along a beach is a timeless treasure.
Where "I miss you" is almost as powerful as
"I love you."
But that is just me and
I definitely am no expert.
I accept what is offered...
Usually.
