Beware Of Romantic Fairytales
By La Belle Rouge

we glamorize it, romanticize it
fantasize it and we poetize it
in the way only poets can
portray love

we celebrate it, cultivate it
deify it, immortalize it
in poetic words

that pluck the heartstrings
affect the affections
fire imaginations

but few of us will ever admit
the way a lover fills up
the core of a soul

explodes deep in your heart
steals the best of you
disappears with it

leaving you on life’s trash heap
to be slowly pulled to pieces
by scavengers of misery

abandoned to a dark emptiness
only a lost lover can fill
and never will...again

poets must yet believe in love
or there is nothing left
to believe in

we polish up our love fairytales
conceal a sharp deadly sword
behind mysterious beauty

so beware of webs poets weave
we are romantic deceivers
in love with love

In my heart I have been always a sucker for "true" love, sadly my cynical head never went along.
But, as a poet, I wanted to believe, oh! how I wanted to believe it!

Well stated and with a lot of truth, but I don't know if it is always a fairy tale...some loves are permanent and last forever so that would make love a reality. Lovely thoughts to ponder in this one though dear friend and fellFee

Well, Belle, I know a little bit about a lot of things, but--
This much I think I do know...love is its own feedback. -gene.

I will ALWAYS believe in love. When love comes, everything becomes beautiful and a fairytale. It doesn't matter how long it will last, it is still a fairytale when love comes; and we should not doubt love when it comes to us, just being in it and enjoying it fully is the way to true love.

It doesn't matter what everyone else think either when it comes to true love, for if it's true your hearts will know it.

Yes, I believe in what you have said in this poem..Once someone like us that can write about such things, loses that ultimate love, we do go into fairytale mode, but we write it so well...Nice poem Belle. You are wonderful.
Peace, love, and light,

Your thoughts weave a tale of sorts and yet we are the weavers of those poems and expressions that carry love along the waves of displays...a very nice work La Belle...

Poets talk tales of love gained and lost.
Love is love is love.
New love is so grand, then,
Heartbreak becomes part of the circle of life.

La Belle,

These lines are sad, in a way - especially,

"poets must yet believe in love
or there is nothing left
to believe in ...."

To not love is not to have been loved at all. :( Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Not always "romantic deceivers", sometimes "romantic deceivers... of ourselves", not always "in love", sometimes "in love with"... fantasy, sometimes not "in love"... with ourselves, always weavers, always poets, always men and women, sometimes we love deeply and truly and irremediably, which sometimes makes us suffer like the damned, and yet, sometimes, makes us blissful and whole like those in heaven... a heaven like only poets can imagine and write and bring alive, even it bleeds and burns like hell. No one loves like a poet... when a poet loves! (And only poets can tell the subtle differences... so, non-poets, beware!)
Brilliant; like only a Poet who knows can feel and write and bring alive!
