Warrior
By La Belle Rouge

one day when foraging in a field
sister eagle gliding high above
spoke his name to me
odd sounding name
unknown, foreign
but I knew then
that his name
was good

powerful magic in that name
wisdom traveling from afar
dressed in animal skins
not from this forest
riding paint pony
dark eyes held
few joys and
much pain

I had once seen his reflection
on quiet twilight forest path
reflected in calm eyes
of lone brother wolf
and I understood
someday at last
he’d be seen
in flesh

not with impulsiveness of young brave
tanned face lined with knowledge
dark eyes fierce from warfare
he spoke to me in phrases
from a far away tribe
and called my name
had sister eagle
told him?

I COULD NOT HEAR THE MUSIC(SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE SPEAKERS) BUT I 'FELT' THE MESSAGE. THANKS FOR SHARING LABELL...YOU ARE ONE OF THE BEST THAT AD HAS. GOD BLESS.

There is always a story to be told of this nature in every culture, they fascinate us, and offer hope, even when life is gone..
For me in my culture, it was my Hinemoa and Tutanekai of my Te Arawa Tribal roots.....
I love this, romantic to the last

I love how you get right into this scenario, Belle, and it has the Native American equivalent of the magnificat about it: the song of The Chosen One. There is awe and reverence in your words, but also an intimacy, a pre-recognised tenderness. I do hope you will continue this. It is a special gift you have of being able to bring such spirituality alive to a non-national like me! I like the arrowhead/flight feathers format, too - clever and highlights your theme and title. xx

Sitings of eagles are meant to raise your spirit above the fray. One eagle and you face your journey alone but with the strength within you(channeling the great warrior, perhaps?). A pair and you will share your journey with much joy, however short or long in duration. Good to have the spirit of this warrior on your journey. Do appreciate this soulful write, La Belle. Blessings...Lin

Or was the warrior stalking the beautiful maiden even as she dreamed of his appearance? Matters not. They are together now.

I was a warrior once, then I got killed, as all warriors will, I like your drum beating heart that goes with it, and I like your afflux to the rhyme of the poem, richly borrowed from the spirit realm. Very beautiful Red. Hugs! Jasmin Horst
