dreams disappeared into nothing
where did they go?
they’ve been gone so long,
I don’t remember or know
yesterday…..the day before
how long has it been since
they slipped out the door?
how many years did it take
for me to finally realize
you can’t always grasp a dream
no matter how hard you try
exhaustion oppresses night and day
I long only to sleep
but know I must stay
here in this dark place
where my dreams are dead
where I hoped to find joy
and found sorrow instead
where I live for others
and find no relief for me
great expectations, greater lies
once I was blind but now I see
that dreams are things made of dust
you live the life you live
and do what you must
to simply survive day to day
your dreams are all broken
and finished they’ll stay
ashes buried in the garden
of what should have been
your only hope…..to sleep
and perchance dream again
I have been in this space before and fortuntly there is always another door/dream opening.......never give up the changing dream we call life. Believe me when I say I say this at a time a new door is opening for me that I can't even see yet.......you have expressed the dark feeling before the opening extremely well.
Belle, the human tragedy expressed with the drama of reality required to share the experience with others. Bewildering, hope and inner peace challenged time and again while we wait, for a sign, a dream to be fulfilled with our passion and desires for love, happiness.
