I am not too often vocal on political or specific social issues but I believe I have as much right as anyone else to voice my opinion. This time I cannot be quiet. If you don't like my opinion or my right to express it I cannot and will not apologize for it. If you never read me again, I do not apologize for the truth.
If someone had not decided that a little black teenager didn't fit the profile of a certain neighborhood and shouldn't be passing through it, there would be one less dead child and two less grieving parents. If someone had stayed in his car and allowed authorities to handle the situation there would not be riots and unrest all over our country today regarding this death. Regardless of what happened after the neighborhood watchman got out of his car, he was instructed by police not to follow or apprehend the boy.

duplicitous….this thing we recognize as race
we judge each other by the color of a face
and can’t see beyond what we obviously see
to understand the foundations of you and me
colors are composites of all who went before
elder genes that found an open or closed door
when you look at me it’s the fair Celt you see
and not the equally present, bronzed Cherokee
I’m many peoples, many things and so are you
if we understand that, it’s reflected in what we do
accepting all as our brothers in ancient truth
regardless of the origins of basement or roof
for we are all one, mankind, created the same
our creator enjoys our colors, knows each name
duplicitous…..racial profiling….what a mistake
if we do it to others our own dignity we take
we tread underfoot the beauty of diversity
denying the divine’s purpose of love and unity
