The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year
days pass faster as we age
two weeks seem like two days
where did all the years go?
I guess we will never know
so many wasted years
and forgotten tears
many sorrowed holidays
lost in lonely ways
a door has closed behind us
a new life finally finds us
now beneath the mistletoe
we've no where else to go
the yule fire burning bright
to warm a winter's night
a magical spiritual time
thankful you are mine
But things have changed between the 20th and the 21st centuries as we all further and further apart from relatives chasing jobs and opportunity. In the 20th century we communicated by letters infrequently and long distance telephone even less frequently. Everything focused on those annual or biannual trips back home. In the 21st century with the Internet available we started to communicate often, sometimes almost every day, via email.
But as we age and time flies, with so much busyness in our lives, time for each other disappears and the elderly seem left all alone. When that time in life comes, it's wonderful to have someone close to keep you warm and in good spirits. Thanks so much for reminding us.

Nice thoughtful poem.
