I was thinking about my daughter and how fast she grew up in a year, so I tried to wonder what things were like when she were born and this is what I came up with.

Months of darkness and far away sounds
A sudden burst of light and excitement all around.
Strange new noises and smells all frightening to me.
Keeping my eyes clenched tight, I'm afraid to see.
What is this place and how did I come to be?
I was content in my cocoon for all of eternity.
Now there is no security blanket or protective skin.
Just these strange people who use the word "kin".
Wrapped in loving arms I feel my life truly begin.
In a few moments, now I ant to look around.
Eyes opening slowly followed by a flood of sound.
I see someone looking back at me happy as can be.
He smiled and said, "You're God's gift to me.:
All I could do was smile and giggle, I wanted to hold onto you, but I was too little.
I have you in my soul and that will always be, Where ever we go, you're always a part of me.
